>New Arcade Fire: Reflektor*

Has worldwide recognition and a Grammy gone to Arcade Fire’s head? It could seem that way with not one, but two video releases for the new single ‘Reflektor‘.

Clocking in just short of the 8minute mark, the Anton Corbijn directed video features the band sporting inflated mâché heads in their likeness.

A second interactive video was also launched at justareflektor.com but requires viewer participation (and the ability to use Google). However ‘Reflektor‘ is packaged, the first material since 2010’s ‘The Suburbs,’ proves the band is able to stay innovative without compromising substance.

Oh, and David Bowie has confirmed, it is indeed he you hear providing background vocals….

*A *’Flock of Seagulls* informed me how he’s typically discouraged to listen to any new music if he’s unfamiliar with the musician(s). I understand the difficulty in stepping outside ones comfort zone but at one point all artists were new, & unheard of to their fans! Suppose our resistance could be traced to a certain genre preference in music, but either way I feel there’s no harm in testing ones boundaries. This is why I’ve compiled a playlist of new artists listed in accordance to the musician(s) I’d say they stand comparable to. Hopefully this encourages further music exploration of your own, & helps reduce any of the anxiety ‘Flock’ feels when he introduces himself to new music!! 😉

CONGRATS to ARCADE FIRE for bringing home a Grammy award win for ‘best album of the year’ with their 2010′ release, ‘The Suburbs’! Made me so happy/proud I almost started tearing-up! Seeing Win, & the gang play with such utter delight just makes it that much more touching, & inspirational! Like them, or not, the fact that the Grammys even recognized Arcade Fire makes me feel there just might be hope for the future of music!
